Working with the beer blogger conference, both in Colorado and London, Zephyr Adventures are working on making a massive list of citizen beer bloggers around the world. So far they have almost 1000 beer bloggers in the list and it's growing all the time. I'm currently working with Mark Dredge (at Pencil & Spoon) trying to organize the Scandinavian sponsors and beer bloggers to attend the conference in London later this spring.

The first virtual beer tasting in US?

Tonight the first virtual beer tasting (at least of Colorado brewed beers) will take place. The tasting is arranged by Zephyr Adventures and will be a Facebook event where the participants can comment simultaneously about the beers. Earlier this year I was involved in a swedish virtual beer tasting over FB and it was a huge success, at least among the participants.

I've been talking with the Wench!

If anyone wants to know something about me, that Swedish guy who's blogging in both US, UK and Sweden, jump over to "Drink with the Wench" and read the article "Featured Beer Blogger: Pelle Stridh".
Hopefully, after reading it, you might stop by at this blog again and hopefully we can start "networking" and talk about beer across the borders. At least that's my goal, to start collaborating with you guys and girls who are devoted to everything about good, quality handcrafted beer. Beer label ethics - Short's Hangin' Frank

I just read an interesting article at Beernews.org about a beer label that showed up at the forums at BeerAdvocate. The thread is now over 200 replies deep. I think it's very interesting to see these kind of reactions in the US as well, talking about ethics and beer labels.

In Sweden we recently had discussions about what is not good ethics in a beer label after the Swedish government alcohol monopoly Systembolaget suspended sales of the US beer Founders Breakfast Stout . The reason for suspending it was the label not being in compliance with Swedish law.

According to legislation, marketing must not be directed at, or depict, children or young people below the age of 25. So what are your reactions on beer label ethics? Should there be restrictions at all? Should the breweries be more careful when they put the labels on their bottles? Have you seen other labels that would be considered bad beer label ethics?

Beer Blogging across the borders

Being a Swedish beer writer and then starting this "beer blogger concept" in both Great Britain and here in USA has given me some insights about the beer scene in the various countries. First, I have realized that it's much more common in the US with female beer enthusiasts (bloggers/writers/tasters) than in Sweden and GB. Be it, that there probably are a few hundred more beer bloggers in the US, but statistically it's more common anyway. What's the reason for that? Secondly, in GB and Sweden it seems like it's very important to show the rest of the world how many readers you have on your blog, represented with various counters. It also seems like it's very important to show that you're number "this and that" on different blog-lists.
One thing that US and GB beer blogs have in common are adverts about beer related books, espacially in GB it seems to be very important to show that you have books published about beer. They also have a lot more commercials than Swedish beer blogs, probably because adverts with alcohol is much more restricted by Swedish alcohol laws.

Looking at the content and styles of beer blogs, I must say that there are many similarities. No matter what nationality your blog have you can always find reviews, interviews, brewery and pub visits, beer festivals and tasting events.
I think we can all learn something by reading about beer culture from different countries and there I have an advantage….because I understand English and you can't read Swedish ;-)
But I'm very interested in collaborating across the borders and hopefully you are as well. So, any ideas on how we can do that? Beer swapping? Guest blogging? Me writing here about Swedish beers and breweries?

New Kid on the (beer)block

Welcome to "All about Beer - US", a beer-blog of beer-blogs….for beer-blogers and other beer-enthusiasts. This is a concept I started in Sweden 3 months ago and it has been a great success there. In Sweden it's called "Allt om Öl" (www.alltomol.nu) which is the same as the name of this blog. I also started "All about Beer - UK/Ireland" (allaboutbeer-uk.blogspot.com) a few weeks ago.
I'm a member of a Swedish beer-tasting society called "Humulus Lupulus", founded in 1987. My interest in beer started 23 years ago and my aim is to get swedish beer-culture to a higher status.
Hopefully you will find this site helpful in getting you beer-related news at one place. I'm also looking for some kind of educational exchange between American and Swedish beer writers.I will be posting here myself and hopefully I'll come up with some interesting stuff.
Feel free to contact me with ideas or comments.
